After my post about the greatest fictional couples in TV I wanted to make another post about the most dramatic couples in TV because there were still so many couples left that I wanted to point out to you. So here they are:
These two are full of Drama. They are together, broken up, together and broken up again. It is exhausting to watch. There is always so much drama. After the two of them married and got children I thought the drama would subside but as the last season showed us, this is not the case. I feel like Mer and Derek have to finally decide if they want to be together or not. The back and forth is just not healthy, especially when children are involved.
#4 Elena and Damon form from The Vampire Diaries
Elena and Damon were the only reason I watched The Vampire Diaries. Okay there was also Klaus and Caroline but still Delana was my number one reason to watch the show. I must say I stopped watching after the last season finale aired but I loved Elena and Damon together. From the first time I saw Damon I wanted them to get together. And then it happens but there is so much drama. SO MUCH! Like the time Elena was not Elena at all but Katherine? Or the time Damon kissed Elena but erased her memory? Or when he wanted to kill her brother? I wished we got more time with the two of them without all the ridicules relationship drama but they are (were) still a great couple.
#3 Blair and Chuck from Gossip Girl
Blair is truly a Queen B and she was my favourite character in Gossip Girl. Her relationship with Chuck grew so much but they needed six seasons to get their problems under control. The two of them set relationship drama on another level. They are proud people and even if they were always in love which other; their action did not speak that language. Like the time Blair wanted to marry a prince only because Chuck could not tell her how much she meant to him. Chuck you emotional crippled bastard! I’m really happy that the two got their happily ever after and could overcome their differences.
#2 Joey and Pacey from Dawson’s Creek
Joey and Pacey are my favourite TV couple EVER! Forget Dawson and Joey. Pacey and Joey are the real deal and he was such a great boyfriend. But what the two of them never did was talk. One of them would have a problem and would shut the other one out without talking about their issues. And they kept this behaviour until the season finale. Their instinct to “protect” the other from their problems got really annoying but in the end it all worked out because Joey is the one which whom Pacey needs to end up.
#1 Brooke and Lucas from One Tree Hill
Even if Joey and Paycey are a really dramatic couple, there is one TV couple that can top all of that. Brooke and Lucas were full of drama. There was the pregnancy scare. The getting naked on the back seat of his car. The falling in love with Brooks’s best friend. Breaking up. Getting back together. Falling in love with Brooks’s best friend AGAIN! And the fighting in the rain. When I think about Brooke and Lucas I always think about this fight they had about that letter he wrote her while running around in a storm. They did not end up together but that is maybe for the best because who could have handled so much drama for longer than a few months?
I love TV series and one thing I love about them is, when TV creates kind hearted and authentic romance. This happens rarely but I have some TV couples that made us envy their relationship and that could easily have existed in real life.
# 5: Pam and Jim from The Office
I loved how Pam and Jim’s relationship evolved over time. First they were co-workers, and then they were friends, then became a couple and married and had children. This happen slow and without a lot of drama. It was just so real. He waited for her and the fact that he bought the engagement ring when they first started dating is so cute. Pam and Jim are always loving and caring about each other and you envy them for having such a harmonic and stable relationship.
# 4: Adam and Christina from Parenthood
Adam and Christina are the perfect couple in every way. They are amazing parents and handle the challenges of having a child with Asperger’s so well. If I have kids I want to be like them because they are so loving and supporting. And no matter what hardships the two of them have to face, you can fell their love for each other. When Christina gets’s cancer in season 4 of the show Adam was there for her every step of the way. He even got her marihuana from his brother to help the chemo side effects. Nothing can break these two apart, they are such an awesome couple.
# 3: Mindy and Danny from The Mindy Project
Even if Mindy and Danny are a new couple, they have a steady and intense relationship. From the start of the show it is clear that they will get together. Also the break-up was inevitable because it is classic TV drama. But now they are back for good and I’m sure this relationship will stick. They are such a funny couple and the fact that they are complete opposites (Danny is a neat freak and Mindy an obsessive chaotic) will make me love every time they interact with each other. Also the new season will change the course of their relationship completely and I can’t wait to see how they handle the new circumstances.
# 2: Ben and Leslie from Parks and Recreation
When Leslie first met Ben in Parks and Recreation I wanted so bad that they get together. And then it happened and they are one of the most romantic and lovely couples on TV. They are there for each other and support one another, come what may. The scene where Ben proposes to Leslie had me in tears because it was so honest and touching. The odds were not in the favour but the conquered all obstacles and are now stronger than ever. I know in my heart they will never ever break up.
# 1: Eric and Tami Taylor from Friday Night Lights
For me there is no greater married couple than Mr. & Mrs. Coach. They love and support each other, no matter what. Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton are incredibly believable in their roles. This may be the most authentic portray of marriage that has ever been in TV. Watching them, you feel like you watch a real couple with real issues. And they give you the feeling that you want exactly what the two of them have. You can feel that their bond is so strong that they will never break up and especially in TV this is rare.
I’m still not over the fact that Parks and Recreations is over. The series finale premiered a few weeks ago and now I’m ready to write a series review about this amazing TV show. For all of you who do not know Parks and Recreation, this show is about the people working in the parks department in the fictional town Pawnee in set in Indiana. The heart of this show is Amy Poehler who plays Leslie Knope, the head of the parks department. This show ran from 2009 until 2015 over the course of 7 seasons. The cast also features Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe, Jim O’Heir and Retta. The first season of this comedy series received mixed reviews and I must say that I did not like it. But the writing turned around and the second season was so much better. This show is funny, has heart and hilarious scenes throughout its 7 seasons.
It took me a long time to get into Parks and Rec. I did not like the first season, I found it dumb and awful. But thanks to a dear friend of mine I kept watching and it started to get better and better. I think what really drew me in was Leslie Knope’s enthusiasm which knows no boundaries and her heart-warming friendship to Ann Perkins. Leslie loves Ann unconditionally and you can really feel their special bond. It loved that this show did not concentrate on love story too much. Leslie Knope is an independent and strong woman who does not need a man to make her life worth living. But of course she goes on dates and wants to fall in love. I loved that a TV show is showing woman as such unique characters. Ann, April, Donna and Leslie are such interesting characters and I love them all. Of course the men in this show are also equally great. Pawnee would not be the same without them.
Now that the last season is over I feel like the finale came at exactly the right time. In the 6 season Parks and Rec does something that was truly shocking. The show jumps three years into the future and it seems like this is the end. But there is another season coming which is set in the year 2017. A jump into the future were we can’t see what is happening to the characters is bold to pull off, especially with a comedy show that is not as plot driven as drama series. But it works incredibly well. The time jump is included with a lot of future pop culture references that are mad funny. The last season had only 13 episodes and all were under the theme of moving, growing up and saying good bye. So there was a lot relying on the last episode because in the past we had to endure too many bad series finales. Fortunately Parks and Rec ended beautifully. The show went full circle and we got the closure we wanted. There are a lot of flash forwards that let us see what our beloved characters are up to in the next few years. It got a little confusing with all this time jumps but I loved that we got to see what is happening after this last season. So if you are searching for a light and amazing comedy series, I highly recommend that you check out Parks and Recreation, especially because you can marathon all the season, now that it ended.
Noah (Dominic West) and Alison (Ruth Wilson) meet one summer in a small resort town in long island. He is a published author and struggles with writing his second book. So he goes on vacation for the summer to find inspiration. Alison is a waitress at a restaurant where she and Noah meet. They both fall immediately for each other. But there are two problems: Noah’s wife and Alison’s husband. This is the premise of the new TV series The Affair. The show is running on Showtime and won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in Television Series Drama (Ruth Wilson) and for Best Television Series Drama. This series is really good and definitely worth giving a try. As of now 10 episodes have aired and the show was renewed for a second season.
Noah is married and has four children with his wife Helen (Maura Tierney). They family survives because Helens money and they are visiting Helens parents in the Hamptons. Noah is constantly reminded that he is not as accomplished as Helens father who is a very successful writer. Noah has to be a teacher to support his family because his writing is not as lucrative as he hoped it will be. Alison has problems of her own. She lost her young child in an accident and can’t stop blaming her husband Cole (Joshua Jackson) for the loss of their child. The two of them became very distant with each other. Also Cole’s family has a lot of money problems with their horse ranch. So Noah and Alison both want to flee their worlds. They give in the desire and passion that is building between them.
The unique thing about The Affair is that the story is told separately by different viewing points. Every episode both of them tells their story but details and maybe even some bigger parts are differing from each other. We do not know who is telling the truth or if nothing is the truth at all. The reason for this is a murder. Noah and Alison are both interrogated by a detective and so they both tell him who they met and what led to the murder. After some time it is revealed who was murdered but we don’t get to know how or why this happened. The murderer still is a mystery after this first season. The series ends with a cliffhanger and not many things are resolved. First I thought this storyline will only last a season and that they maybe use a completely different cast and a different premise in the next season that still revolves around some kind of affair. But this is not the case. It seems that there are a lot of bodies buried. There were twists in these 10 episodes that I did not predict. I’m’ not quite sure if the premise is enough for another season or even more. The Affair was tense and interesting in the beginning. It lost its grip midway but can’t be dragged down because of this. The characters are just so well acted and interesting that I can’t wait to see the next season. I hope there will be more resolved because as of now everything is possible. I highly recommend this series. The acting is great and the split perspectives on the story are giving the TV show something truly different. Even when the story sometimes gets a little bit slow it is such a tense show and you easily get addicted.
I love TV Series and I love to watch the good ones over and over. But let me say that these are just my favourite TV Series and there are a lot of other great shows. So here are my Top 5 TV Series of all time:
I loved Everwood from the first episode until the last one. It was a great family show and I was so happy with the ending. Amy and Ephrain are a great couple. Everwood is a show that I can watch over and over again. If you like family drama you should check it out.
# 4: Big Love
This HBO Show is not as popular as the other series on that list. It was one of the first HBO shows I watched and I love it still. Big Love shows the family life of polygamist Bill (Bill Paxton) who has to keep his three wifes a secret. The series gets very dramatic at the end but I still love it.
Not all of you will know Friday Night Lights. It is a family drama about the Town Dillon in Texas and how the high school fottball team affects the town as a whole. It is about love, friendship, family and sports. This show has the most realistic marriage ever shown on TV, this show has Mr. & Mrs Coach.
Loreilai and Rory are one of the most charming mother-daughter duos in television history. I want to live in Stars Hollow with them because they are so adorable. Every few years I re-watch all 7 season because this show is just so good.
There is only one Tree Hill. That is exactly right and there is only one TV show that made me cry and laugh as One Tree Hill. The characters are great; the story is always interesting and never boring. Also there are a lot of car crashes.
Inspired by this Indiwire article I want to share with me my most shocking moment in TV series this year. This post will include spoilers for this series: Parks and Recreation, House of Cards, Pretty Little Liars, Parenthood, Game of Thrones, The Good Wife, Young & Hungry, Leftovers, Nashville and Newsroom. If you have not watched the new season of this shows you may consider not reading this article because there will be major spoilers.
At the season finale of Young & Hungry’s first season, Josh finally decides that he can’t marry Caroline. He now is aware that he loves Gabi and wants to tell her but when he arrives at her apartment he glanches in the window and sees Gabi kissing Cooper. This was so hard to watch because I want Gabi to end up with Josh. Cooper is obviously not the right guy for her. But Cooper is still very cute so I can’t wait for the next season to start.
The finale of the 6th season of Parks and Recreation did something that is really rare in comedies. They jumped ahead 3 years with their story. So after Leslie announces that she is pregnant, we see her 3 years later. This jump was a bold move. We don’t get to see so many moments that would have surely be memorable. But it can also be very interesting for the next season to start it 3 years after the last one. I hope the last season of Parks and Rec will be as awesome as we want it to be.
My most shocking moment in this season of the family Drama Parenthood was maybe not that shocking. When Julia and Joel get back together I was surprised. I did not see that coming. They were separated for a long time and Julia finally had her life together and a new gorgeous boyfriend. And in exactly the moment Julia has her life back to normal Joel shows up and tells her that he loves her. But now, after so much time, Joel decides to come back? Can they two be happy together after everything Joel did?
The season finale of Nashville was very dramatic and emotional. So much happens. But what really left me speechless is that Avery and Juliette get married. Yes, they get married! They not just try to get back together a second time, they make it official. I love them together and hope it will last because they are such a cute couple. Also it would be easier with the baby.
In the scene where Kevin Jr. kidnaps Patti and brings her to a cabin in the woods we all knew this will not end well. But when I watched as she killed herself because Kevin would not kill her I was speechless. This scene was powerful and haunting. Kevin could be ruined if this gets out. Even if he did not kill her, no one will belief him that Patti did it herself. With this violent act Patti started a war and Kevin can only loos no matter what he is going to do. I’m not a really big fan of The Leftover but this episode was better than most others. I hope we get some answers in the second season.
This week Newsroom closed its doors forever. The last episode aired and it was an emotional rollercoaster. But more shocking was the episode before that where Charlie Skinner died because of a heart attack after arguing with Sloane and Don about stories they did or did not do. At the series finale we find the cast at Charlie’s funeral where Sloane and Don are blaming themselves for Charlie’s death. I really liked the Newsroom as a series but unfortunalty its last season was not as strong as the first two. However Charlie’s death was hard to get over because he was a beloved character and even when the show comes full circle with his death it still hurts.
The start of the first season of House of Cards was not really strong. It seems like the events of the first season are repeating its self. Underwood is planning and scheming but the series losses its grip. Until the unspeakable happens. Underwood pushes Zoe Barnes in front of a train. And then he speaks directly into the camera: „Welcome back“. I did not watch the complete second season of House of Cards because it lost me with the storyline of Frank but this scene was truly shocking.
If you watch Game of Thrones you are used to shocking moments. Nothing can be more shocking than the Red Wedding but still this season of GoT did a good job with unexpected scenes. The most shocking scene for me was the Purple Wedding when Joffrey dies in a most gruesome way. I read the books so I knew this was happening in this season but still I was surprised to see it on TV. It just looks so horrible that you even pity Joff which was the most surprising fact of this scene.
When you watch Pretty Little Liars you should always be prepared for an unexpected twist or turn. That’s one of the great aspects of this show. How knows who A is and what his or her plans are for the liars? I do not know! When the announced that one character is going to be killed off in the 5th season I hoped that it won’t be one of the liars love interest because this would be very cruel after all that it happened. But that Mona would be killed came as a shock for me. I really thought it would be a parent. We will miss Mona but I can’t wait to see the season finale. I just love this crazy show.
The 15th episode of the 5th season of The Good Wife wrecked me. It was so hard to watch. I got spoiled for it but I did not know when it would happen. So when I watched Will being killed in a court room it was one of the most shocking moments in TV. Will and Alicia should have been together. But no he gets killed off. Will was such a great character and he left a void that no one can fill. The rest of the season was not the same without him. But then the 6th season happened as The Good Wife came back stronger than ever. For me this series is the best drama series currently running and I recommend it to everyone who likes strong women and an intelligent storyline.
