For this tag, all you have to do show off the 5 biggest books on your shelf that you have read, and 2 big books that you have not read. I was not tagged and I don’t know who created the tag but it seems fun to do this. Also 2015 will be a year in which I plan to read a lot of big books.
5 biggest books I’ve read:
There are two A Song of Ice and Fire books in my top 5 but because A Dance with Dragons is my biggest book that I have to read I will choose some other big books for this category. I will only choose one book from a series.
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell (1.011 pages)
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J. K. Rowling (870 pages)
Vergebung (english title: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest) by Stieg Larsson (864 pages)
Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer (800 pages)
I am Charlotte Simmons by Tom Wolfe (738 pages)
2 biggest books on my TBR shelf:
A Dance with Dragons by George R. R. Martin (1.123 pages)
The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson (763 pages)
3 Biggest books on my Kindle:
American Gods by Neil Gaiman (656 pages)
Night Film by Marisha Pessl (640 pages)
The Crimson Crown by Cinda Willliams Chima (598 pages)
Because of my Book Buying Ban in March and April I will not be able to buy books I have not read. But I can buy books I read as an ebook. Some books were so good that I want to own a phyiscal copy of them. Also I have preordered some books over the ocurse of the last months and one of them made it’s way to my doorstep this month. So here are the books I bought in March.
I bought 7 books I have allready read: Landline by Rainbow Rowell (I listend to the audibook version of this one and it was great so I had to own a copy of it), The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (I also listened to this audibook and wanted to own it because the story was really fascinating), Requiem by Lauren Oliver (I bought this one because it was cheap and I already own the first two books. I have not read Pandemonium but I probably wont anyway, I just wanted to have the complete series on my shelf) and then I bought 4 books from the Gone series by Michael Grant, Gone, Lies, Fear and Light (unfortunatly Hunger and Plaque are currently not available)
My preorderd book that came this month was Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins.
I also got A World of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin,y Martin, Elio M. García Jr. and Linda Antonsson. This book was a gift from me to me for getting a great new job. It is more of a coffetable book so it will not count to the book buying ban because it will not go on my TBR list. I just read bits of it from time to time.
The month is nearly over and it is time for a book haul. At the begining of the year I told you that I want to try to buy not too many books. But in January that did not work out. But this month I bought 12 books of which only one was pre-ordered.
First I bought some german books Wild – Der große Trip by Cheryl Strayed, Der Report der Magd (The Handmaids Tale) by Margaret Atwood and Ich habe einen Namen (The Book of Negros) by XX.
Then one of my pre-ordered books came in the mail: Control by Lydia Kang. I also got a gift card for a local bookstore so I bought some more books: S by J. J. Abrams and Doug Dorst, The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey, Messenger of Fear by Michael Grant, The Alloy of Law by Brandon Sanderson, All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven, The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver.
I also borrowed two graphic novels from my dear friend Nadine: Coraline by Neil Gaiman and P. Craig Russell and The Last Unicorn by Peter Gillis and Peter S. Beagle.
I already read Pandemonium, All the Bright Places and The Last Unicorn – Graphic Novel.
Book Buying Ban
I now own 26 physical books that are on my TBR list. So I think it is time to go on a Book Buying Ban for March and April. But this Book Buying Band will be not as stricked as the one I did last summer. If it is really necessary I can buy one or two books. I also can buy books I already read but do not own. I hope to get my TBR down to 10 but this will be an ambitious task. Over the summer I may buy more books because I go on vacation to croatia and it’s my birthday. But for now it’s time to stop the excessive book buying.
There is a new book tag and it is the Epic Reads Book Tag. I was not tagged but thought it would be fun to do this one. Here are my answers:
If you could invite one author and one of their fictional characters to tea, who you invite and what you would you serve them?
I would invite George R. R. Martin, the author of the famous A Song of Ice and Fire series and Severus Snape from Harry Potter. I would serve Martin Veritaserum that Snape would make for me before he arrives at my house. With this serum Martin has to speak the truth and I can ask him all my Questions about his books and the ending of A Song of Ice and Fire. And Snape would get some English breakfast tea.
What Book do you wish the author would write a prequel for?
That’s an easy one. HARRY POTTER. I want more from the world of Harry Potter and I don’t care what it is but if J. K. Rowling would decide to write a prequel I would pre-order it immediately.
Name two characters (NOT from the same book) do you think would make a good couple.
I would find it interesting to see how Warner from Shatter Me and Mara Dyer from The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer would get along. I think this would be an explosive but passionate pairing and Warner could help Mara use her powers for a greater good. I think the two of them would make a great couple.
If you ran into your favourite author on the subway and could say only one sentence to them who is it and what would it be?
I think I would just tell J. K. Rowling THANK YOU for her unbelievable great Harry Potter Books. You know how I much I love this books. So if I could only say one sentence I would thank her because you can’t ask her questions about the books out of the blue. This would be very rude. Also there may be not much time so this would be what I would do if I could even get out some words in front of her.
What book made you a reader and why?
I know it’s boring but I have to say Harry Potter – again. But to spice it up I will also pick The Hunger Games because these books helped me get into YA books. So I think both Harry Potter and The Hunger Games are responsible for my reading addiction.
Incendio! Your bookshelf just caught on fire. What one you book would you save?
That would be a horror scenario. I think I have to save my new Harry Potter books, the Scholastic edition. I love them and I got them from my parents for Christmas this year. I would also save my Kindle. But I can’t even think about my books burning, that would be too terrifying.
Which dystopian world would you want to live in if you had to choose one? Why?
I choose the world of Shatter Me because I feel you can maybe survive it and there is no arena. Also who knows, maybe I meet Warner and wouldn’t that be great? Also Shatter Me does not have the harshest reality compared to other dystopian books. I could not imagine living in the world of The Hunger Games, Unwind or Delirium.
What is your most epic read of all time?
I will not say Harry Potter again so I choose A Song of Ice and Fire. If George R. R. Martin can finish this series I think this will be an amazing book series. It already is epic. There are Dragons, there is war, there is magic and there are even zombielike creatures. And there are DRAGONS!

- Name one of your blogging or reading resolutions.
I want to read 100 books and I want to finish all my started series. I also want to listen to more audio books and I want to re-read all the Harry Potter Books. And I want to read a few classics but I already feel like this will not be happening.
- Do you use the Yearly Goodreads Reading Challenge? If so, did you accomplish it in 2014?
Yes I did. It was my first Goodreads Reading Challenge in 2014. I only started reading a lot in July 2014. I always loved to read but last summer I decided to spend more time reading and it was one of the best decisions in my life. I set my first Goodreads Reading Challenge to 50 books and ended up reading 71 books. So I feel confident to read 100 books this year. At this point I already finished 16 books which I think is not to bad.
- What was your anticipated book of 2014? Did you get to read it?
I’m not quite sure because I just started reading more new releases but I think my most anticipated book in 2014 was City of heavenly fire by Cassandra Clare. I read it in August when I was on vacation and I loved it. For me it is the best book in The Mortal Instruments Series.
- What was your anticipated movie of 2014?
My most anticipated movie of 2014 was Gone Girl and it was also my favorite movie last year. I hated the book but as soon as I heard David Fincher was directing the movie and Ben Affleck plays the lead role I was so excited. I can’t wait to get this movie on Blu-Ray.
- Name three anticipated book releases for 2015.
I’m really excited to get my hands on A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, The Fire Sermon by Francesca Haig and The Merciless by Danielle Vega because this book is not yet released in here in Austria.
- What book are you currently reading?
I’m reading Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken. This is the second book in The Darkest Minds trilogy.
- What is your favorite thing about blogging?
I love to talk about movies, TV series and books with other people and I love to mett people all over the world and get a glimpse at their life. I’m always very happy to meet new people that have the same passion as I do and I love to chat with all of you.
- What is your favorite tv-show at the moment?
At the moment it is Parenthood because this is the last season. There are only 2 episodes left and I just love this show. It is so emotional but beautiful at the same time and the drama is never exaggerated.
- Who is your bookish OTP?
Well if you follow my blog you know that it is Juliette and Warner from Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. I loved this books and I love Juliette and Warner as a couple.
- Book you recommend to everyone?
It’s so hard to pick a book that everyone will like. But I think Ready Player One by Ernest Cline is a book that I pushed on nearly all my friends so I go with this one. If you like the 80’s and video games I think you will enjoy this book.
- How many books do you have on your TBR pile?
- Do you have book buying resolutions for 2015?
- What are you currently reading?
- What was your favorite movie of 2014?
- What is your most anticipated movie of 2015?

I did only nominate 5 people but check them out, they are all great bloggers!
It is time to make some Reading Resolutions for 2015. I already told you my Goodreads goal for this year, I will try to read 100 books. I know this is highly ambitious but maybe I can accomplish it. And if I would pick just 80 books it would hardly be a challenge at all. But other than that I also have some other reading goals I want to accomplish in 2015. Some general goals are to read more classics, to read graphic novels and to not own to many unread books. I also want to read a Dance of Dragons by G. R. R. Martin, I want to re-read Harry Potter and Insurgent and I want to finish some series. If you want to see my TBR shelves just visit me on Goodreads.
After watching Katytastic’s video TBR JAR CHALLENGE I decided I want to adapt her challenges as well. However I will not do the part with the TBR jar I will still try to fulfil these challenges:
- Read a book with 500+ pages
- Reread a favorite book
- Read a 2015 debut novel
- Read a book that someone else picks
- Listen to an audiobook
- Read a book you DNF’d / gave up on
- Read a new-to-you author
- Read a book that is not a novel
- Read/watch a book and its adaptation
- Read an award winning novel
- Read a classic novel
- Read a series finale
This tag is about what problems come along when you read a lot. This tag was created by About to Read I was not tagged to do this but I figured it looks like fun and so here are my answers:
You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?
I always have problems with deciding what to read next. If I’m reading a series I will mostly read the next book in this series. I try to make a TBR list for every month but I do not always stick with it. Sometimes I just go with my moods.
You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?
It depends. Mostly I try to finish it but sometimes I just pick another book up and finish the less intresting one another time. But I finish it.
The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?
I do try to catch up if it is possible to achieve the challenge. This year I paticippated the first time in the Goodreads challenge. I only started reading a lot in July. My goal was to read 50 books this year and I currently have read 60 books so the challenge is no problem this year. If I would be behind I would try to read mostly shorter books.
The covers of a series you love do. not. match. How do you cope?
At the moment I’m really picky. I will buy now copies of The Hunger Games because I hate my covers. I also will buy another Unwind book because the first book does not match my other books. So if I like the book series and I like the covers I will re-buy them.
Everyone and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?
That’s what the internet is for. I will definitely find people online that do not like this book. Probably over Twitter, YouTube or Goodreads.
You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?
I do not cry in public! I may get chocked up but that’s it.
A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads? Cry in frustration?!?!?!?
I would like to re-read the books but there are always so many books on my TBR so I feel bad about re-reading books. Mostly I will just read the synopsis on Goodreads or Recaptains.
You do not want anyone. ANYONE. borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?
I’m not very polite about it. The books are mine and if people borrow them they may never return. So I only give books away that I don’t care about. Except my mother of course. She can borrow every book she likes.
Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?
I probably read a book that is fast paced or fun or both and not to long. Or a read a book that I wanted to read for a long time. Or I read one of my favourite books again. But usually I get over a reading slump real quick if I have a whole day for reading. If I’m busy it can take me longer to get over a slump.
There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?
BUY ALL THE BOOKS! I mostly preorder books I’m really looking forward to. But I do not preorder more than two books per month. I just love preordering books because I forget about them and when they come in the mail I’m happy and surprised.
After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?
They usually sit on my shelf for a few months. Some of them sit there even longer. But I have months that are dedicated to reducing my amount of TBR books. Also I watch the amount of TBR books on my shelf. The amount should not grow over 30. My kindle is a different story. I cannot stop buying books for my kindle because most of them are so cheap. I currently have 90 books on my kindle that I want to read. That’s way to much! I need to have one whole month in 2015 where I try to reduce my Kindle TBR.
I tag Lieke from BookLiekLieke, Elisabeth from Livres and Brooms, Nicole from The Bibliophlie Chronicles, Sophie from Nerd(ish) Reader, Jiix from JiixBook, Alyssa from Pucks and Paperbacks and Stranger in Books.
